Dating advice: Gifts for HIM for Valentine's Day at any stage of the relationship...
Dating advice: Gifts for HIM for Valentine's Day at any stage of the relationship... February 5, 10:51 AM Kansas City Dating Advice Examiner Sarah Estlund So it clearly depends on how long you have been dating in regards to knowing what is an appropriate Valentine's Day gift. And, let's face it ladies, most men could care less about Valentine's Day. I find that Valentine's Day is the perfect way to give a gift that benefits you both. For example, beer of the month, wine of the month or book of the month clubs, couple massage, night on the town, a night at a bed and breakfast or just dinner out. If you have been dating just a short time its a fine line as to whether you give a gift. If you haven't had the 'exclusivity' talk yet, just bypass V-Day all together. If you are exclusive any one of the following would be appropriate. And, every one of the following is a gift for you as well. Beer of the Month Club...(You will be a hit with his buddies) Wine of the Month Club... Book of the Month Club? GPS (if you have money burning a hole in your Prada) Flat screen TV (if you have money burning a hole in your Prada wallet inside your Louis Vuitton purse) Couples massage (Ok this is a present for both of you) Night out at Power & Light (this cabin fever + recession has us all going stir crazy we need to go on dates once in awhile) Nice dinner at Ophelia's, Cafe Trio, Anthony's, Aixois, Lulu's Noodles, Nara or any other local Kansas City restaurant Men, I realize you need the most help therefore I am spending time on your 'what to buy her for Valentine's Day' advice column. Besides, we all know you are waiting until the last minute so it won't hurt to publish it later!

Valentine's Day: what's NOT to love?
No one really acts like they look forward to Valentine's Day anymore. If you're single, it's the pink elephant in the room because you are sans date. (You were sans date last week too, is it that big of deal?) And if you're with someone, you either don't want to rub it in to your single friends that you have someone or you are stressed out wondering what to plan for the 'big day'. I've heard so many people say that Valentine's Day is just another day. A Hallmarked holiday created to make us buy gifts, flowers and candy for our loved ones, when we really should be doing that all the time. So, what's wrong with that? People are missing the point that whether single or taken, celebration or not, since Valentine's Day IS considered a holiday why not take the opportunity to do something special? It doesn't have to be expensive, but a splurge, a little something to make an otherwise ordinary day extraordinary. To be honest, I wish there was a Cupcake Day. A day celebrating the baking of cupcakes. Since there isn't, VD (that's probably not the best nickname, how about V-Day) is a perfect day to bake some for your favorite person. A box of cake mix is barely more than a dollar, add some frosting, sprinkles and voila a sweet, festive treat for you to share...or to keep for yourself. Or, take a trip to 18th and McGee and visit Christopher Elbow's chocolate spot, where the chocolates look almost too good to eat. Almost. Pick from chocolate choices like Single Malt Scotch, where the name does not lie; it is a dark chocolate ganache infused with single malt scotch or take advantage of their chocolate Valentine Collection which literally is a box full of edible art. Now that your sweet tooth has been fixed, you can relax. What better place to retreat then Massage Heights in Leawood. There you can find V-day massage promotions to ease away any built up stress and tension you may have had about the holiday or otherwise. Treat you or your sweetheart to any one of their V-day specials: * Valentine's Escape 1-Hour Hot Stone Massage with signature aromatherapy * Valentine's Indulgence 90-Minute Hot Stone Massage with aromatherapy and foot scrub * Couple's Sweet Retreat You and yours can experience your 1-hour massage at the same time in a couple's suite. Valentine's Day doesn't have to serve as a relationship status reminder or be a cause of unnecessary stress. It should simply be another reason to celebrate the people you love and take the time to show some love to yourself as well. Plus, any day that includes any of the above mentioned sounds like a pretty LOVE-ly day to me. Even if it's not Valentine's Day, you can enjoy an introductory rated massage at Massage Heights.
